Poem… 18

With everything going on in the world right now, more than ever I want to focus on art and Love. I will not get political here and I will not speak of despair or the need to fight.

I will simply continue to create art and share Love through my words, my actions and my hopes and prayers.

Blessings.

2016 Euro Trip Conclusion: Not giving Two Fucks

2016 Euro Trip Conclusion: Not giving Two Fucks

That’s it. It’s over. My Euro trip came to a stop sign halt exactly three weeks ago today. I haven’t been able to write. I haven’t wanted to write. I can’t believe how quickly time flies sometimes.

If it were up to me, I would not have returned stateside just yet. No. There was still so much for me to do, so many goals to accomplish, so many places to see, so many people to meet.

I will be going back soon enough though.

I found my second and my third homes (France and Portugal) and I am so grateful for the magic that’s led me there. Continue reading “2016 Euro Trip Conclusion: Not giving Two Fucks”

Wedontsitoncouches- A chat with fellow Globetrotter Tryphena Wade

It’s just past 6p.m. here. I’m sitting cozy in a 4 year-old’s bedroom in Caltagirone, Sicily. It’s reunion time for me.

I flew 2.5-hours from Paris to see a friend I haven’t seen in almost 20 years, met her children, including her newborn baby girl who is but 10 days old today, and got to reminisce on our time in Russia and all the crap we got into as kids. Oh, the memories. My heart is full of joy.

And to add to that awesomeness, my tea stop on the awesome travel blog Wedontsitoncouches is LIVE today!! I am so honored to be featured on this stupendous blog/podcast.

I encourage you to take a moment and check out this podcast- it is a must for any wanderluster and every Citizen of the World.

We’ll be chatting about taking chances, travel, life and death, and this little guy right here.

Subscribe to wedontsitoncouches as well and follow Tryphena’s travels- I can tell you first hand that she’s got some exciting things coming up!

Until the next one,

xoxo

The House of Fado: Portugal

The House of Fado: Portugal

The lights are dim. There’s only a gentle red glow to illuminate the space. She slowly sashays her way to her position in front of the musicians. There is a classic guitarist- he smiles in anticipation, ready to accompany the other star of the show: the Portuguese guitar. This instrument is the golden child of Fado. Its sharp notes are only softened by the deep prong of the viola, or classic guitar. Its wielder knows just how to run his fingers across the double fine strings to make it cry.

She closes her eyes.

She’s draped a weightless scarf about her shoulders, softly gripping each end in either hand. The restaurant is silent. Every fork and knife has been set down. Every head is turned toward her, immobile, waiting. If you happened to have stepped away for the restroom, you’re stuck in the lobby until the next set. That is the price to pay for bad timing.

The Portuguese guitar rings the introduction. Continue reading “The House of Fado: Portugal”

The South of France – Béziers, Pézenas and Languedoc

I got home Monday morning, around 3 a.m. I’m sorry I took so long to write, but I really needed a few days to recover from it all.

The South of France, as I’m sure you can imagine, is a gorgeous and peaceful hub of green mountains and hills, vineyards at every turn, and of course, sun sun sun- and beaches! As for the Paris-South of France drive? Let’s just not talk about it.

It’s been nearly 2 weeks since I’ve landed in France. The internet hasn’t been on my side. Wifi? Even Starbucks has let me down… but I digress. Continue reading “The South of France – Béziers, Pézenas and Languedoc”
